Imli Tala (Imlitala), which translates to “in the shade of the tamarind tree” in simple terms, is an iconic temple located in the holy city of Vrindavan. The temple is situated on the renowned Parikrama Marg and is considered one of the most revered shrines in the region. Historically, the temple gained significance when Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, visited Vrindavan around five hundred and fifty years ago. During His stay, the saintly figure resided for several days at Akrura Ghat, located nearby. Every day, He would visit the picturesque Imli Tala Ghat, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, where He would engross Himself in bhakti (devotion) while chanting the holy names of the Supreme Lord Hari.

Nestled just a stone’s throw away from Banke Bihari Mandir, lies the magnificent Radha Vallabh temple. This temple is home to the revered deities of Sri Sri Radha Vallabh Ji, who were worshiped by the great saint Sri Hit Harivansh ji Maharaj. Legend has it that Sri Hit Harivansh Maharaj was an incarnation of the ‘vamsi’ or flute of Lord Krishna himself. He descended to spread the inner confidential teachings which emphasize the sublime loving exchanges between Radha and Krishna.

As one approaches the temple, they must ascend a flight of stairs and navigate through a winding lane before finally arriving at the temple courtyard. Once inside, they are greeted by the breathtaking darshan of Sri Sri Radha Vallabh Jiu. Interestingly, while the altar does not feature a separate deity of Radharani, the deity of Radha Vallabh Ju boasts a long braid cascading from their crown. According to the Rasika Vaishnavas of Vrindavan, this is because not everyone is eligible to see the confidential form of Srimati Radharani. Thus, the deity is a ‘yugal jodi’, meaning that both Radha and Krishna are together in one body. The long braid and hair of Radha Vallabh Ji is believed to represent that of Srimati Radharani.

Prem Mandir, famously known as The Temple of Divine Love, is a magnificent masterpiece that captivates every visitor’s heart with its grandeur and elegance. The word “Prem ” translates to Love in English, and the temple beautifully depicts the eternal love between Radha and Krishna. The construction of the temple was initiated by Sri Kripalu ji Maharaj in 2001, and it took 11 years to complete. The temple houses several deities, and its specially constructed platform offers visitors a grand view of 48 panels that showcase the life of Lord Krishna.

As I made my way through the crowded streets of Vrindavan, my heart was filled with excitement and anticipation. I was on my way to the Banke Bihari Temple, one of the most revered and ancient temples in India. As I entered the temple, I was struck by the beauty of its architecture, with intricate carvings and vibrant colors adorning every inch of the walls. The air was thick with the fragrance of incense and the sound of devotees chanting and singing hymns.

As I made my way towards the main deity, Lord Banke Bihari, I was surprised to see that there were no bells ringing. Instead, the temple was filled with the sound of clapping, as devotees expressed their love and devotion to the deity in a unique and lively way. The sight of Lord Banke Bihari (Krishna), adorned with flowers and jewels, was simply mesmerizing. I was able to feel a sense of complete and utter spiritual ecstasy. The Banke Bihari Temple is not just a temple, but a spiritual experience that has been cherished by devotees for centuries.
